We stay in #2009 for this week’s #TBT. This was one of the clubs I was a part of, more specifically the VP. It was fun having events where we get to make science cool and exiting. Did we accomplish that? Not really. The environmental careers presentation was kinda my idea but it bored me to tears. We held a blood drive and also a and of semester movie/games night. All that NYPIRG stuff came in quite handy when we had to get people out to the events. But things started to take a sour turn when everyone else wanted to do med school stuff, because they were headed in that direction career wise. I just let it happen because I had other issues in my life to deal with at that time. I quit pre med around that time and then decided to pick a major and get the he’ll out of that place. Meanwhile, the club interest went down and then no one wanted to join or run the club, thus fading it into obscurity, like the Harlem Shake in 2013. [And Yes, Brooklyn College did one of those Harlem Shake videos. It’s still on Youtube!] Anyways, the club was kind of a jumping off point in my college career. I went on to major in psychology, intern in NYPIRG and even the Student Center. Both of which I gained even more. Being on the board of a student club helped me to reach out to other people on campus and that kinda helped me get into an internship in the Student Center. Proof that things may suck now, but in due time they get better. As for my these guys above, some went on to med school, and some are like me, still trying to figure ourselves out, in due time. Now that I think about it, more people would have joined a club that had an English name like “World of Science” instead of a Latin name, like I suggested! I digress. I would tag the other people here but I have have a feeling they will either do it themselves or yell at me for posting this. To each their own. #throwbackthursday #college #science #sciencerules #brooklyncollege
Lesson here: Do not piss off deadmau5!
What’s left of #5Pointz after being whitewashed and slated for demolition. View from the 7 line right before going into the tunnel. One of the last remnants of what Long Island City used to be like before gentrification, i.e back in the 90’s. Now all those abandoned factories are now either condos or storage facilities, both of which gouge their rent prices. And this lot is gonna be more of that. All the art that was there for decades is now gone, possibly forever. I hope the developers of the project are happy and can sleep at night. Go see it while you still can! #gentrificationinprogress #gentrification #7train #longislandcity #queens #nyc (at Save 5 Pointz)
